Thanks a LOT for now having gnome without systemd and your fine documentation here. I don't have systemd but installed gnome and it work so so. I boot into a system prompt and after logging in start X and gnome with startx. It works.
Is it possible just to upgrade to gnome without systemd more or less as described or should I uninstall the current gnome altogether and start all over again (as described)?
Did anybody do something similar I would like to do?
Olivier
- Hi Olivier apologies just saw your post here when making an edit to the main page - for some reason my mail system swallowed the page change notification ><
- Anyway, I believe if you are already on OpenRC, you should just be able to upgrade directly after installing Dantrell's overlays, no need to uninstall GNOME first. See his comment here.
- Hope that helps! If you have other questions, there's a thread on the Gentoo discussion forum about Dantrell's overlays here.
