Using KeyTool as a workaround for the evil "wrong filesystem permissions" error

I've been working through your guide and almost gave up on the secure boot part because I was getting this error. Luckily, in my searching, I came across a mention of KeyTool, which is an EFI application that comes with efitools. It seems to have worked perfectly for me, in combination with a key generation script I found on the Arch forums, so I wrote an addendum to your guide explaining how to use it to install the keys. Feel free to use my addendum however you want! demize (talk) 00:13, 5 June 2016 (UTC)

Thanks, that's really useful. I have linked it in to this note and also here. --Sakaki (talk) 09:43, 5 June 2016 (UTC)

Minor edits

It appears that you have the option "Mark all edits minor by default" checked in your preferences (under the "Editing" tab), as all of your edits, even quite extensive ones, are being marked as "minor". Please turn this option off and instead use the check box labeled "This is a minor edit" under the "Summary" box while editing to mark any edits that are truly minor (changes to grammar, punctuation, formatting, etc., that do not add, remove, or modify the meaning of any facts or instructions in articles). - dcljr (talk) 23:17, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

OK, will do. Sakaki --Sakaki (talk) 08:54, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

"Overlay" vs "Ebuild repository"

The term "overlay" is replaced by the term "ebuild repository" (cf. Ebuild repository). --Feng (talk) 08:16, 2 July 2017 (UTC)

OK, I'll change the references to overlay in my guide next time I do an edit run (shouldn't be too long, got a few other changes that need making). --Sakaki (talk) 15:27, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
Personally I like the term ebuild repository for referring to different repos (I've liked this term ever since repos.conf support was added to Portage), but others still like the term overlay. So, I think some of the Gentoo devs should still discuss this. We also have things like overlays.gentoo.org (which a redirect now exists called repos.gentoo.org) that infra team also needs to discuss. Not saying that you shouldn't update stuff in your guide, but just take this into consideration. :) Kind regards, --Maffblaster (talk) 22:34, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
