Duplicating portage man page

- The portage manpage is large, and contains way more information than a user would need. My goal is to make a simple reference that is much more easily digestible. Furthermore, as in the case of this page, there is no complete, all-in-one-place documentation on version specifiers intended for end-users as far as I'm aware of. The devmanual and ebuild(5) have a good descriptions, but they're focused on writing ebuilds (and for obvious reasons, do not describe the ::overlay syntax). I'm open to suggestions, though :) --Alec 21:33, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- Imo these things belong into the man page (and only there or you're duplicating contents, which will eventually go out of sync). If you think the man page is lacking then please fix the man page. It's rather easy to get changes in there quickly. Just write a patch and ask in #gentoo-portage or write to the portage-dev ml. For the actual contents: extended atoms (which include repo specs and wild cards) are documented in portage(5)--Sebastian Luther (few_) 17:13, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
