Powersave

Talk status
This discussion is still ongoing as of 2018-11-02.

According to https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/cpu-freq/intel-pstate.txt, you can theoretically set "powersave" (which works as ACPI ondemand) as the default governor for intel pstate, in addition to "performance". It should probably be explained a bit further in this article. I haven't, however, run any proper benchmark and I've just started testing it in real life on a laptop without apparent performance impact. See also the discussion here: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1013630-highlight-intel+pstate+cpupower.html, although it dates from quite a while ago.

I just want to note, this applies also to the pstate description in the Power management article.
