We should mention in the article, that the package itself is called ati-drivers and fglrx is an abbreviation for "FireGL and Radeon for X" (maybe this way people get their letters sorted and don't talk about fgrlx etc.). Mrueg 15:17, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- go ahead, I added what the abbreviation stands for. Disi 15:23, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
/dev/dri/card0 is missing
The device on my system is named /dev/ati/card0 "dri" seem related to radeon opensource driver, "ati" seem correct for proprietary driver — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Xdarma (talk • contribs)
FB_EFI for the booting console
Adding FB_EFI in the kernel config so that we can use the console while booting is rather important. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tchiwam (talk • contribs)
mesa
# euses r600 media-libs/mesa:r600-llvm-compiler - Build the LLVM based r600 shader compiler. r600 - VIDEO_CARDS setting to build only r600, r700, Evergreen and Northern Islands based chips code for radeon
Question: the global USE r600 is for the radeon open source driver. WTF with mesa which have its own description for that USE flag? Is USE="r600" needed with an Evergreen chip and fglrx? — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dominique (talk • contribs)
tty and fglxr
What are the needed options in order to get working tty with fglxr? It is a lot of question every where with folks complaining they get a black screen at the ttys, and no clear answer. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dominique (talk • contribs)
