Explaining how the output is to be interpreted with an extremely hard example might pay off, a lot of people keep asking about it. Because the man is fairly long an example is most likely easier to process for them... --Tom Wijsman 18:43, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

- I see some grammatical errors. And I think there should be a section about automatically updating eix for repos that don't get synced, eg local overlays. Ottre (talk) 20:09, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
- Regarding non-synced overlays: AFAIK eix-update updates all overlays as far you use the new portage mechanism or have PORTDIR_OVERLAY set. Therefore the local overlays are updated whenever the portage tree is updated. If you make local changes to your overlay, than you need to update the cache manually. Maybe i just do not get you use case. Can you please describe this in more detail?
