2.2 Kernel
This pertains to a hardened kernel, with additional Security/PaX options that don't exist in gentoo-sources. I think I might separate this off into a separate box.... -- veremit (talk) 03:12, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
Hardened Sources?
The pages says:
One caveat to this approach is that the Aufs patches can only be applied to a hardened-sources (sys-kernel/hardened-sources) kernel with specific options enabled. For most users the next option is a simpler choice.
Now, maybe it's me not being native speaker of English ... but the wording here is a bit unclear. Can I apply only to hardened-sources and I must have specific options enabled when I use hardened sources? Or can I apply the patch to non-hardened sources?
I would suggest to make it clear - too me this reads as: If you use hardened sources- you can only apply the sources under the condition that you have a certain configuration.
Reading on-wards, it seems you need a certain configuration even if you are not using hardened sources.
In any case, I managed to compile the aufs4 with the ebuild without hardened sources. The module even loads fine, without any error. Hence, I am a bit puzzled about this article.
