I think that section 25 "Kernel modules" should come before section 23 "Default: Manual configuration". This is because some users may need to add firmware to the initramfs image to successfully boot, but if you set `FIRMWARE="yes"` in `/etc/genkernel.conf` and run the command to build the image from subsection 23.5 before installing the firmware outlined in subsection 25.2, then genkernel will fail. Installing the firmware by following instructions in subsection 25.2 before creating the image outlined in subsection 23.5 resolves the issue. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jesusaur (talk • contribs) 19 May 2017‎
