Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) is a semiconductor company. AMD is best known for producing CPUs based on x86 intruction set, motherboard chipsets and their own line of GPUs. Later AMD created amd64, which is the 64-bit equivalent instruction set of the x86.

Graphics drivers
- ATI FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) to help users avoid some common installation and configuration issues related to DRI and X11 for AMD/ATI boards.
- radeon — a family of open source graphics drivers for older AMD/ATI Radeon graphics cards. Useful for older graphics adapters.
- fglrx — the proprietary graphics driver for older AMD/ATI graphic cards. No longer supported by Gentoo or AMD.
- AMDGPU — the next generation family of open source graphics drivers using the new Display Core (DC) framework for Vega GPUs and Raven Ridge APUs. It is however also capable of handling newer AMD/ATI Radeon graphics cards based on GCN1.1+, namely the Southern Islands, Sea Islands, Volcanic Islands, and Arctic Islands chipsets.
- AMDGPU-PRO — the next generation closed source graphics component that operates on top of the open source AMDGPU drivers for newer AMD/ATI Radeon graphics cards. Not (yet) supported by Gentoo.
CPUs
- Ryzen — a multithreaded, high performance processor released by AMD in Q1, 2017. It is the first CPU released based on the Zen microarchitecture.
